LMP Nationals : The Showdown

1/12th Circuit

BRCA 1/12th LMP Nationals - Chesterfield preview
The showdown is on!

So here we go: after a terrific season of racing we will see a showdown between the drivers who have closely contested the top positions at the previous five rounds. David Spashett is looking to add to his unrivalled collection of titles against two of his young Zen/Roche teammates in Adam Catchpole and Ollie Payne.

Saturday - 13.5 Stock

This one is a straight fight between David Spashett and Adam Catchpole.

  Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5    Score
David Spashett 150 150 147 149 145   596
Adam Catchpole 142 141 149 150 149   590

David goes into the final round with a commanding lead in the standings. However, the nature of the scoring system, with drivers able to drop their two lowest scores, means that the title is far from secure.
Adam needs a top two finish and to beat David to keep himself in with a chance. Given the quality of drivers entered for the final round, including reigning European champion Alexander Hagberg, this will be easier said than done.

Sunday – Modified

Here the situation is more complicated with Adam leading the standings by just one point from David and, the modified rookie of the season, Ollie Payne.

  Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5    Score
Adam Catchpole 146 148 142 150 149   593
David Spashett 147 147 148 146 150   592
Ollie Payne 149 149 145 149 144   592

Despite this being the first season Ollie has contested the modified title, there is every chance he could be taking home the Phil Davies trophy for the blue riband category.

Whatever the final result, the trophies will be headed home with the Zen/Roche team.

Sunday – Sport Modified

The situation here is much more straightforward, Aiden Ripley for Schumacher Racing must win this round. If he does he will walk away with the title.

  Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4 Round 5    Score
Craig Nutting 149 150 149 150 149   598
Aidan Ripley 150 148 150 146 145   594

Any other result will see Craig Nutting crowned the champion and complete a clean sweep for the Zen/Roche team, who have who have dominated the 2016/2017 national series.

C.A.R.S - Sharley Park, Chesterfield

As we head for a final round shootout, it’s fitting that we make our way to Sharley Park and the Chesterfield club. Considered by many to be the spiritual home of British LMP12 racing, the Chesterfield club can trace their first national event at their current venue back to 1983. Kevin and his team always lay an excellent track and their new CRC track markers are very good.

There are still places available, so it’s not too late to come along and join in to see the drama unfold. Go to the event pages and get your entry in: Event Entry
