The weekend of 19th and 20th June, saw Round 4 of the BRCA Large Scale Off Road (LSOR) National Championships at Pickering RC – and with 54 drivers turning up, it was set to be a good weekend! Drivers flocked from all across the country to the beautiful North Yorkshire Coast, ready for an action packed weekend of racing!
Saturday - Practise and Qualifying
The track opened at 10am Sharp. Drivers made there way out to the track and the rostrum quickly filled up with drivers trying to get the best set-up's ahead of qualification later that day. Neil and the team at Pickering had put some hard work into the track, since we were last there, re-adding the ever propular sweeping bottom right hand corner back into the track! The new section of the track gave a great change to the track from previous years, and with the added astroturf, being slipper than the other section, once again the race was on to find the best set up to work on both sections!
As per previous years, due to the ever growing size of the LSOR section, the track closed at 14:30, ready for the first round of qualification to start at 15:30! After Scrutineering, qualification was under way, with SCT our first, followed by 4WD and then finally the 2WD finidshed the day off! Around 5pm the track was brough to a close and everyone took a well earned rest!
Sunday - Qualifying and Finals!!
Sunday soon came around and everyone was ready for the full day of racing ahead! The track started off very damp, meaning once again drivers were changing set ups to get the best out of the cars! The track opened early for those drivers that arrived on the Sunday morning to get some last minute practise in before the 2 rounds of qualfying went underway! After the 2nd round of qualifying, the track defiantely started drying up again! After lunch qualifying was done, and it was time to start the finals, with the track ever changing from qualifyng heat to qualifying heat and from final to final - it once again was a fight for the top 7 spaces in each class for automatic entry into the main finals!
We are please to confirm the top 10 in each Class are as follows!
