Can you help the Carlisle club restore their track after flooding?

RC News

Floods have hit the Carlisle club’s outdoor track during one of the many storms over the north of the country in 2015.  Keith Anderton from the Carlisle club is co-ordinating an appeal to everyone in RC to help get the club back on its feet.  Wherever you are, please contact Keith with any offers of help you can give.

Floods have hit the Carlisle club’s outdoor track during one of the many storms over the north of the country in 2015.  It has taken three weeks for the club to assess the damage and as many of these photos show it is extensive.  The tack and its facilities are unusable and need full restoration.

Three feet of floodwater covered the track three weeks ago.  Only now the water has subsided is the full scale of the damage clear as these pictures show.  Even solid paving stones have been broken, and until the track has the mud washed off it damage there will not be known.  Insurance has proved unaffordable since the last time this happened in 2005.

Keith Anderton from the Carlisle club is issuing an appeal to everyone in RC to help get this valued local track back in operation and return ‘grass roots’ racing to the local area.  In addition to equipment loans to get the mud and debris off the track, the club has lost its generator, mower, strimmer, tables and chairs, gazebos and some of the race control equipment.

The club officials have already started contacting the local council, sports council and other local organisations looking for help.  This appeal is to all of us in the RC community – can you provide support in any form to the Carlisle club?  If you can, please contact Keith on [email protected]
