Equipment Recognition Board

Adopting products for specific classes has been part of the BRCA’s success over 50 years.  Each year, Sections detail the equipment that is eligible for their National races, often by singular selection or through a driver’s vote.  Each Section does this differently, to different methods, with different people as committees change.

The model trade, encompassing manufacturers, wholesalers and retail outlets, recognise the benefit of the construction rules Sections devise and develop.  BRCA influence worldwide through EFRA and IFMAR enhances this value to the trade, and we enjoy a good reputation in this area.

Recently, the trade has expressed concerns that equipment recognition has become less transparent than the Rules and Standards we have been using for those 50 years.  Current economic conditions, combined with opaque ways to recognise eligible equipment, are seen to create a gap between the racers and the trade, one which is not healthy in the long term.

Building on the success of the Electric Board, the BRCA Exec are establishing the Equipment Recognition Board to establish a face for the trade to work with to establish a transparent, visible and single point of contact between the BRCA, it’s Sections and the trade.

It’s objectives are:

a) To provide standards where required by Sections and Clubsport to encourage participation in the BRCA’s Club, Regional and National racing.

b) To provide a point of contact for the Trade and Sections who wish to discuss and develop ideas that attract people to race RC cars.

c) To establish and maintain a good working relationship between the BRCA and the Trade.

The Board will work in the first instance to establish how it can work as well as the Electric Board by discussion with the Sections, the trade and the Exec in order to find out what the BRCA can do to help the trade, and how the trade can further help our racers.

Our first standard is now ready for release and will be posted here in the coming days.
