Round 3 of the BRCA Rallycross championships took us to North West Nitro, near Blackpool. This Fast, sweeping all dirt track now established on the Nationals would once again bring us some great racing, despite the British weather trying its best to stop play.

In qualifying it was Jonny Skidmore who took the overall TQ with his Xray buggy after getting TQ in 3 of the 5 Rounds , an in form Lewis Jones and his WRC took the other 2 rounds meaning he would end up 2nd overall with Will Skidmore and his Xray in 3rd. Sworkz Driver Elliott Boots returning from his European duties would get 4th and Graham Alsop and his HB would get 5th overall.

The first Semi Final was the B side and Lewis Jones was pole with his Reds powered WRC machine, a stumble at the start saw him drop down the field so 2nd on the Grid Boots took the lead and that’s where he stayed, leading every lap and crossing the line at the front of the pack. Lewis recovered well getting back up to 2nd within a few laps, he and the Alpha powered AE of Neil battled for the 2nd spot for the majority of the 20 min race, but Lewis took the 2nd place and chased down Boots in the final part of the race, crossing the line 2nd with Neil 3rd. The scrap for the next few places was great with the Sworkz of James Le Pavoux, the Mayako of Mike Lewis and the Xray of Paul Crompton all in contention for 4th, the 3 swapping places over a number of laps, but it was Mike Lewis who grabbed 4th by just over half a second from Paul Crompton in 5th, and James got 6th. The final bump to the main from this final was taken by the Xray of Josh Graham.

The 2nd Semi had Jonny on Pole and Will Skidmore 2nd, and the brothers dominated the final and were 1, 2, for the whole race. Jonny taking the win in fine style and getting the lap on the field. The fight for 3rd was another great race, between the HB of Graham Alsop and team mate Dom Nunn. The pair changed places a few times throughout the race, but it was Dom who took the place with Graham crossing the line just 0.38s in front. A steady drive by the Bullit powered Agama N1 of Kevin Brunsden saw him secure his place in the main by finishing in 5th. A fantastic drive by the HB of Maxim Cook saw him go from 13 to cross the line in 6th! A very impressive final from the young driver. The final spot to the main was taken by Lee Martin and his Alpha powered Agam N1.

The Main final would start with Jonny on pole and Elliott 2nd. A bit of a procession for initial laps of the final saw not many places change, but this didn’t continue, just after the first pit stops Will Skidmore passed Elliott and he retained the place for a few laps but Boots took the place back and chased down Jonny for the rest of the race but this time Jonny couldn’t be caught. He took the win and even got the extra lap from Boots in 2nd. Will Skidmore and his FX powered Xray got 3rd and Lewis Jones in 4th.the HB of Graham Alsop crossed the line in 5th. A great win for Jonny, who now leads the National championship going into the last two rounds.
