After 5 tremendous rounds and a terrific day of racing the GT12 national series for 2024/25 comes to a close.
Firstly thankyou to everyone involved at the C.A.R.S. club for hosting a great event and a massive thanks to everyone who took part on the day.
On to the racing Michael laws set the early pace by toping the time sheets through practice, Q1, Q2 & Q3 but we all know that in indoor carpet racing Q4 is oh so important and it proved to be just that today. Ewan Thompson waited until around 5 minutes into the final round of qualifying to pinch the top spot and held onto it for the remaining time.
Ewan, Michael and Matt Hunter drove incredibly well all day to qualify 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the grid.
Young Freddie Parker put in an awesome performance making another appearance in an A final qualifying 6th on the grid.
Rounding out the top 8 was Dan Mountford, Matt Gammons, David Gale and Simon pole.
Into the final and Ewan made a clean getaway while others battled hard behind him stretching out an early 3 seconds lead but one mistake can be so costly in such a competitive field and nearly was as on lap 9 a bounce off the track marker sent him nose first into the barrier which saw his lead wiped out . At that point Matt Hunter could smell victory and pushed hard in an effort to take the lead but Ewan remained calm with 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in close attendance and went on to take his maiden victory.
Dan Mountford eventually managed to grab 2nd place Matt Hunter 3rd and Matt Gammons 4th, with the 3 of them separated by just over a second across the line.
The B final was won with a super drive from Ethan Boyce. Joined on the podium Josh Flanagan and Andrew Slingsby.
C final winners Adam Mullock, Richard White and Michelle Snowden.
D final Tyler Wilson, Nathan Wilson and Gavin Rice.
E final Conor Galbraith, John Parker and Craig Wayte.
F final Greg Butterworth and Stephen Mullock
And well done to the top 3 juniors, its been fantastic to see so many young drivers taking part in this seasons championship and look forward to seeing you all next year. Fast Freddie Parker, Ethan Boyce and Tyler Wilson
Congratulations to all of today's winners.
Finally thankyou to everyone who took part in any of this season's events we need your support to make these events happen.
Congratulations to Sam Coult on being crowned the 24'25 champion and to Matt Gammons taking 2nd and Ewan Thompson 3rd
