Support class for the Birtley GT National 1st October

1/12th Circuit GT

To boost entries at the GT10 and F1 National we are running additional heats for those wanting to run an LMP car at the Birtley National. There are restrictions on who may enter.

There are slightly north of 20 entries for the two National classes, GT10 and F1. It isn’t possible for the BRCA to make up the financial shortfall to the club with that level of entry. After a lot of consideration we have decided to allow the club to run heats of LMP12 to help make up the event break even.

If you would like to race LMP12 you can enter on the day. Heats will be for six minutes only. Drivers should be prepared to run the 13.5 class and this may be varied on the day depending on who enters. There will be no trophies for this class.

You may not enter the support heats if you finished in the top 30 of the GT12 Nationals last season. You may not run the support class if you are entered for GT10 or F1, you may only run the class you have entered.

We have reached this conclusion because…
We want the event to be viable to the club. There is local interest in running LMP12.
It is too late to combine all three classes on the Sunday. The hall is booked and cancelling won’t help the finances. People have booked accommodation, etc. and some who are racing on Saturday will be leaving to go home and equally haven’t planned to stay for Sunday. Such shirt notice inconveniences those who are supporting the event.
We don’t want this to be seen as a potential for drivers to practice for the GT12 event on the Sunday, hence asking the top 30 from last year not to enter.

I hope you will all have the compassion to realise that the club and we are doing to best we can at this stage to assure the viability of the event. If you would like to give your LMP a run-out then please get to the event by 12:00 on Saturday 1st October. Details are on the website here - Venue is Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, Birtley Lane, Birtley, DH3 2LP.
