The fourth National  of the 2026 season was held at the Wombwell circuit in South Yorkshire on the weekend of the 25th/26th July. The heatwave temperatures had eased slightly and there was the possibility of rain disrupting the proceedings.Saturday was dry all day so plenty of time for set up and engine tuning. It was also good to see some brand new racers .

On Sunday morning drivers’ briefing was followed by a short practice session for those drivers unable to attend on the Saturday. After that it was straight into qualifying.

After 4 rounds of qualifying the positions were as follows :

TQ - Mark Green

2nd - Alfie Wadsworth

3rd - Lee Ward

Saloon Touring

TQ - Ollie Williams

2nd - Mathew cook

3rd - Devendra Mahatme

TQ - Glyn Beal

2nd - Mark Boothman

3rd - Daniel Leonard

Finals:

B Final 220mm GT

Jason quickly took the lead and stayed out in front winning by four laps.. Meanwhile there was a close tussle ongoing between Adz, Mark and John Russell. Eventually Mark and Adz pulled away with Adz coming home two laps ahead of Mark.

A Final GT8

TQ & National Champion Mark Green dominated all three legs despite an unverified rumour that his car was seen on its roof in the second leg!!  Alfie took second in all three legs. The fight for podium was close with Lee and Trevor Kersey ending up with the same points after 3 legs with the result going to Lee on qualifying position.

A Final Saloon Touring 

Ollie Williams and Matt Cook were in a class of their own as they tussled for the lead in the early stages of the race. Meanwhile it was close with the rest of the drivers challenging for third . Unfortunately Matt suffered some flame outs eventually dropping him down the field.As a result Dev managed to move up in to second and eventually pulled away from Nigel who completed the podium.

A Final 220mm GT

TQ Glyn Beal continued from the last meeting leading from start to finish and winning by three laps . Meanwhile it was close between, Richard, Daniel , Dev, Kevin Suggitt and Jacob Hennell for the remaining places. Jacob and Dev eventually dropped back. The other three were close throughout with Daniel taking second 18 seconds ahead of Richard , with Kevin just a further 19 seconds behind.
