Welcome to 1/5th Scale Large Scale On-Road Racing – the premier class of petrol-powered RC touring car competition.
Often referred to simply as 1/5th Scale LS Racing, this is one of the most realistic forms of radio-controlled motorsport, closely replicating the handling, engineering and driving experience of full-size touring cars.
Racing takes place on dedicated tarmac circuits using powerful 23cc two-stroke petrol engines, similar to those found in strimmers. The cars are rear-wheel drive and feature a single-speed transmission with a differential, along with four-wheel disc brakes—either hydraulic or cable-operated depending on the manufacturer. The result is a fast, responsive and highly rewarding racing experience.
One of the great attractions of the class is its accessibility. At the top level you'll find sophisticated aluminium and carbon fibre competition chassis, while newcomers can enjoy the hugely popular FG Mini Car. With its simpler design and shorter wheelbase, the FG Mini offers an affordable and competitive entry point into large scale racing without compromising on the fun.
Above all, 1/5th Scale On-Road Racing is about friendly competition, close racing and enjoying the hobby. Whether you're taking your first laps or competing for championship honours, you'll find a welcoming community of racers who are always happy to share advice and help you improve.
With clubs and race tracks located throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, there's never been a better time to discover 1/5th Scale Large Scale On-Road Racing.
