Overview
Whilst there have been some excellent national events in recent years, the number of clubs willing or able to host events has declined and last season only managed a 3-event series at 2 different clubs could be organised.
LMP12 is a somewhat niche/specialist RC class that has national level racing at its heart in the UK. Therefore, to develop and grow this long-standing category the BRCA are looking to extend its reach and give both new and existing racers something to prepare for over the summer.
This calendar includes a mixture of some clubs who have hosted LMP12 Nationals for many years, others who make a welcome return to the calendar, and some clubs for whom this will be a new endeavour.
The October National at West Bridgford clashes with the Masters of Foam race in Belgium that some British racers will want to attend. An attempt was made to shuffle the venues/dates around a little bit but sadly a workable solution could not be found. We will also have to run this as a single day event as the BRCA AGM takes place on the Saturday and it is not permitted to run National meetings on that day. The West Bridgford club remain committed and keen to host a successful event though and will probably offer some kind of club/practice event on the Saturday, so please support that if you can.
Classes & Notes
LMP12 classes for the 2024/5 season will be 13.5 Stock and 6.5 Modified. The 13.5 Stock class will be run on an open basis, so no separate formula finals; finals will be run A-Z based on qualifying.
Drivers will be assigned formulas based upon ratings at the start of the season, subject to scrutiny by the 1/12 section committee. Drivers with ratings near the break point will have the opportunity to choose their formula. Formulas will be announced before the start of the season.
The 6.5 Modified class will have a 6.5 turn motor limit and will be run subject to there being at least fifteen entries in the class for round 1. If the entry requirement for the first round is not met, drivers will be offered a transfer to Stock class. The number of places in each class is determined on a first come, first served basis. So if one class fills up it’s initial allocation we will re-shuffle the numbers in each class.
All classes will use zero-timing (blinky) speed controllers and motors and batteries from the BRCA Equipment Recognition Board lists current at the date of each event.
Entry.
Drivers may only enter for 1 class per event.
Please note that pure RC4 transponders (AMB Percy and Pro) should not be used at these events.
