The 1/8th Off Road section is an integral part of the BRCA and has been a well-established and popular part of the association for many years. BRCA-affiliated clubs across the country race 1/8th off-road classes on most weekends of the year, and full details of those clubs can be found elsewhere on the BRCA website.
Since 1983, the section has also run a full National season of race meetings, typically held from April to September. The section now supports a range of championship categories, including the National Championship, Clubman Championship, Junior Championship, and Over 40s Championship, helping to provide competitive racing opportunities for drivers at every stage of the sport.
This section is run by a dedicated group of experienced racers whose aim is to deliver a well-run, enjoyable and welcoming series of events for everyone involved.
The section currently features two main classes, which often run together at National events:
In addition, 1/8th E-Truggy is beginning to grow, and as numbers increase, this class is expected to develop further in the future.
1/8th Rallycross Buggies are powered by 3.5cc nitro engines, giving competitors not only close racing but also the sound, smell and atmosphere that bring a real full-size motorsport feel to the action.
1/8th E8 Buggies are very similar in design to their nitro counterparts, but are powered by LiPo batteries, offering fast, quiet and highly competitive electric performance.
1/8th Truggies are based on the same 4WD off-road principles as Rallycross Buggies, but they are generally longer, wider, and fitted with truck-style bodyshells, giving them a distinctive appearance and handling style.
National meetings are held at off-road circuits around the UK, with tracks featuring a variety of obstacles such as jumps, tabletops and technical sections. Surfaces can include Astroturf, dirt or grass, creating exciting and varied challenges for drivers throughout the season.
Whether powered by nitro or electric, 1/8th off-road racing delivers a fast-paced and thrilling style of competition that is hard to match in any other form of RC racing.
